National Center on Educational Outcomes (NCEO)
Sheryl Lazarus, Ph.D. is a research associate at the National Center on Educational Outcomes (NCEO). Dr. Lazarus has a Ph.D. in Educational Policy and Administration from the University of Minnesota and is a licensed K-12 principal. She recently returned to NCEO after spending two years as a research scientist at the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) in the U.S. Department of Education. Prior to being at IES, Dr. Lazarus was at NCEO for a number of years. Dr. Lazarus has expertise in large-scale assessments, students with disabilities, school accountability, accommodations, educational policy analysis, and data-driven decision-making. Her work at NCEO currently focuses on alternate assessment based on modified academic achievement standards and “2%” issues. She also analyzes State accommodation and participation policies for students with disabilities and has published extensively on accommodations.
